When Samantha Lines, a 29-year-old, laid eyes on her newborn daughter, Bella-Rose, for the first time, she was in for a surprise. Bella-Rose had two teeth already, a rarity as most babies don’t start teething until they are six months old.
Bella-Rose’s birth was a moment of pure joy for Samantha, who had experienced years of difficulty conceiving and had also suffered a miscarriage before. In various cultures, different beliefs were associated with babies born with teeth. In England, it was believed that a child born with teeth would make an excellent soldier, while in France and Italy, it was thought to guarantee world conquest.
The occurrence of babies being born with teeth is relatively rare, happening in only about one in several thousand births. Despite its rarity, medical experts are still uncertain about the exact reasons behind this phenomenon. In some cases, doctors may recommend removing the teeth, especially if the baby experiences difficulties in feeding due to their presence.
Samantha’s journey to motherhood was filled with challenges, but the birth of Bella-Rose with her two teeth serves as a testament to the resilience of life’s wonders.
